Dementia is a common malady stalking older adults. A recent study suggests that those who read, play board games, or “jam” with their favorite musical instrument several times a week, lower their risk. The project tracked more than 450 people age 75 and older for five years.

The best defenses against dementia, researchers conclude, are activities that keep both mind and body active.
