Good Posture Improves Walking Benefits

Walking is great exercise if you maintain correct posture and movements.

• Hold your head high—Keep your chin parallel to the ground, and avoid jutting your head forward.

• Keep your neck, shoulders, back, and hands relaxed—Don’t hunch or shrug, and let your arms swing with a slight bend at the elbows.

• Gently tighten your stomach muscles—Move your navel inward toward your spine to help keep your abdominal muscles slightly contracted.

• Tread softly—roll your foot from heel to toe, and don’t allow your heels to crash to the ground. Wear comfortable shoes.
