A Little TLC

It was a hot Sunday afternoon, and I figured it would be a good idea to make some lemonade. What’s a better companion on a hot afternoon? So I went to the kitchen and got to work on the lemonade.

As I opened the refrigerator to put in the lemonade, I noticed that everything in there felt quite warm. On further inspection, I realized that the refrigerator didn’t seem to be working.

This was definitely not something I was planning on for my Sunday afternoon. With a big sigh I set down my lemonade and started emptying out the refrigerator, separating the things that had gone bad from what was still salvageable. Then I got to cleaning out all the spills and melted things.

After about an hour into the cleaning process, the refrigerator started to whirr and the lights came on and out of nowhere, it was working again! I sat back and just stared at it and wondered, what could’ve possibly caused this to happen. I began to laugh to myself as I sat on the kitchen floor. There was nothing wrong with this refrigerator. It just needed a little TLC.

Reach Out for Him

It made me think of something else in my life that is similar to this: my relationship with God. In Acts 17:27 it says, “God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.”

We might be going through something really tough, and feel like God isn’t there, that our prayers to Him aren’t “working.” We get frustrated and do not understand what’s going on, when all we need to do is give our relationship a little TLC. We need to take the time to not only talk to God but also listen to what He has to say. For His ways are the best.

This summer, I challenge you to not only talk with God daily but also to listen to what He has to say to you. Give your relationship a little TLC.
