Hugs from Dad

On the day before I flew home for summer vacation, my dad called me on Skype to chat for a little bit. We had not spoken in a while (we had both been very busy over the last couple of weeks) and so we decided to catch up for a few minutes before going to bed.

Prior to hanging up the call, he told me that he missed me a lot and just couldn’t wait to give me a big hug. He also told me that he had been cleaning up the house and setting up my room for when I would arrive; even going to the grocery store to buy all my favorite fruits, cereals, and treats. He was preparing for my arrival.

House With Many Rooms

When I think of God, I think of Him as my Father as well. In John 14:1-4 it says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms, if that were not so, would I have told you that. I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Isn’t that just beautiful?

Just like my father on earth, my heavenly Father is preparing a place for me right now, and can’t wait for me to come to my heavenly home.

And, just like my father on earth, I imagine my heavenly Father just can’t wait to give me a big hug as well. I can’t wait to go home to my real, eternal home in heaven, to be with my heavenly Father forever.

Can you?
