I Still Love You

Up until a few months ago I had a nice job with great benefits like health insurance, bonuses, personal and sick days and almost two months of vacation each year. I wasn’t going to get rich but at least I was making enough money to support my family.

Then, I made a mistake. Sadly, I knew I was wrong. In fact, I was even trained not to do this very thing; but there I was, broken, ashamed and disgusted.

The first thing I did was call some of my friends who are pastors. I asked for them to pray with me on the phone. All of them prayed with me. One pastor, a close friend, wanted to know what happened. I explained in detail how everything went down and I acknowledged my mistake. After I finished, this pastor and friend said the most beautiful words considering my situation. He said: “Irving, first of all, I love you the same way I have always loved you. I love you for who you are not for what you did. I’ll always love you no matter what.” I couldn’t contain myself. I started to cry.

After a couple of days of thinking and analyzing my situation, and after several conversations with this pastor, I found a principle that has helped me to keep a positive attitude and carry on.

Apple of His Eye

God cherishes and values me so much that it’s not what I do, it’s who I am that is important to Him. I am the apple of His eye; so it says in Psalms 17:8. In this day and age, people are considered to be important for so many different reasons—titles, position, possessions, where they go, what they drive, the square footage and location of their house. But God’s value system is very different from the value system of the world.

If you’ve ever thought that God has too many other important things on His plate than to be concerned with you and your life, know this today—you are God’s number one priority. I know I am.

And there’s nothing you can do to be more important or less important. God values you today simply because He made you, and your value will never change. You are significant. Your life is significant. The things that concern you, concern God. He carefully watches over every detail of your life, and there is nothing too big or too small for His attention.

It is nice to know that while we are going through the darkest moments of our lives Someone is there, Someone is still in love with us, Someone cares, and Someone is guiding us.

Take your concerns and cares to the Father today. He loves to hear you call on Him, and He is waiting to show Himself strong on your behalf.
