Not too long ago, after a few weeks of searching and praying about it, I was able to find a new job. We all know that this is not a guaranteed situation or luck, it's a blessing. This process got me to wondering if God is ever unemployed.

As we, human kind, go through problems and disappointments, through illness and pain, sometimes we get bitter, sad and angry. Some people would even blame God for their disappointments, in other words: they fire God. But it doesn't have to be a negative situation for us to fire God. Allow me to say that it is possible that even when we are enjoying a very successful life, we could fire God. It is natural for a successful human being to believe that God is not needed. When we experience these particular situations we can say that God is unemployed.

We may have fired God but in a very mysterious way He keeps working for us. David expressed in Psalms 121:4 that God will not slumber nor sleep, He is constantly watching over me. Basically God is saying: “Even though you fired me I will still keep on working for you, my love for you is much greater than the problem you might be going through ”. What a God! He has been fired but He never stops working.

At Work In You

Another way to look at it is that God is able to do more than you could ever ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20 says that God's power is at work within you. Notice that this verse says it's according to the power that is at work within you. How does God's power work within you? God's power works in you when you are walking in love. God's power is at work in you when you choose to forgive those who have wronged you. God's power is at work in you when you bow before Him with a humble heart. He is at work in you when you are serving others by putting their needs above your own.

If you look around you for a moment, you will realize that, no matter the situation you might be going through, there is someone out there who has it worse than you. Remember, God wants to move on your behalf in order for you to become a blessing for someone else. God is not only working within you and for you but He also loves to bless you!

These are difficult times, but you must remember that God is arranging something new and better for you. Is God unemployed in your life? Have you fired Him? Will you hire Him back? Choose today to let God's power work in and through you. As you allow Him to work in your life, you will experience His promise to bless you. He will do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine.
