Begin the new year—and your journey to a greatly improved you—by faithfully following these four proven and universal health rules:

1. Exercise regularly

2. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

3. Maintain a normal weight

4. Don’t smoke

Most chronic diseases would be drastically reduced if people adhered to these basic lifestyle recommendations. Only three percent of Americans follow all four.
