Are you as respectful to your mate as you would be to a stranger? Patterns of communication with a spouse sometimes don’t adequately reflect the caring that couples feel for each other.
You can work on your communication skills by making a daily habit of being cordial and polite to each other. Forgive past wrongs, be grateful for each day you have together, and choose your words with care. For instance, instead of saying, “You never pick up your dishes after a meal,” try “I really appreciate it when you help clean up the dishes after a meal.”
