When I think about Easter and celebrating the resurrection of Jesus I also think of the fact that there would have been no resurrection if there hadn’t first been death.
Death is totally Satan’s thing. Don’t ever be tempted to think that God is responsible for death. Human beings were never meant to endure the pain and separation that death brings. We were created for loving relationships and eternal togetherness.
When evil spoiled the plan God stepped in with a remedy…a way to ensure that humanity could be safe forever with each other and God. Ironically, the only way to beat Satan at his own game was through Jesus’ death. Jesus died for the life of every human being. He paid the ransom price and bought humanity back!
Because of this amazing fact I can have the ultimate hope for my future. Through believing and accepting, my eternal destination is secure. And now that plan of being forever with God is the anchor of my life. It is the star by which I set my course. It keeps my focus on things of eternal significance. It sends me daily to God’s Word.
Because of Satan, every single person living on this planet today is going to die, including me…unless Jesus returns first. But I don’t worry about death now because I have accepted Jesus’ death. When I die it will seem to me that the next moment I will see Jesus face to face. For what brighter future could I wish?
No Pain, Sadness or Loneliness
There is no more pain or sadness or loneliness for the one who dies—no more awareness of the struggles of this life. It is the ones left behind who must deal with the grief of loss. But because God is the Master Creator I must trust that God will also be the Master Healer for the loved ones in my life when I die—and for me when I lose someone I love.
Jesus said “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). God is the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3). God’s ultimate plan is to wipe away the tears; there will be no more death or sadness or crying or pain (Revelation 21:4). Those things cannot exist in the presence of God. They are totally Satan’s things.
