Sluggish Metabolism

Some people appear to be born with a naturally fast metabolism that burns calories rapidly. If your metabolism seems slow, you can influence it by choosing foods rich in complex carbohydrates to maximize the number of calories you expend while digesting food.

Speed It Up!

To speed up your burn rate, eat more sweet potatoes, legumes (beans, peas, and lentils), fruits (apples, bananas, oranges, and pears), green vegetables (asparagus, broccoli, spinach), and whole grains (brown rice, barley, whole-wheat, oatmeal, pumpernickel, or rye).

These foods tend to be high in fiber; so they empty from your stomach at a slow, steady rate, which helps to control your appetite.
