Standing in Grace
Photo: Benjamin Earwicker
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand” (Romans 5:1).

This particular Bible verse has been taped to my wall in the kitchen for weeks, months actually. I must admit that I originally posted it up there as a scripture memory verse, but I have yet to really memorize it.

Each time I read this verse my focus changes from memorizing the words to trying to understand the main concepts. It is a whole essay in one sentence. The main topic is receiving grace and how we qualify to do so. I am baffled. My faith is the entryway to God's grace?

Days Get Blurry

I guess you could say this is my life theme right now. There is no doubt in my mind that I believe in God, but the day to day gets blurry. I definitely do not have everything together. The morning is a race between time, my kids and wondering how I am even functioning on so little sleep. There is a brief window of time in the middle of the day where I remember what it is like to think, pray, and maybe have a quick bite to eat before I start the crazy race again when my two-year old and seven-month-old get up from their naps. Added to this time is the bonus of making dinner. I realize all of this is just a season, but seriously, many days seem to be passing and I feel like I'm falling so far from where I want to be, but it is such a comfort to remember no matter how hard some days may feel, I still have my faith and that means I am still standing in His grace.
