My Tombstone

Lately, I’ve been thinking about my tombstone. No, I’m not feeling morose. I’m just taking a moment to think of what it is I’d like to have written on it. The reason this comes to mind is because of the Scripture from II Corinthians 1:12.  which says, “Our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation with the world for You (God).”

I’m thinking that’s about the best thing that I’d want to be true about me when my time is up here; that I had my conversation with the world for God. What else could be more satisfying than to have spent a lifetime conversing
with the world about God?

Picture That Stone

So, I’m taking a moment to picture that stone. Here lies Gwen, loving wife and mother, having had her conversation with the world for God.

I’m also taking a moment to imagine what the world would be like if the masses of stones in our cemeteries had claimed that inscription. Lord, help us to speak up for you while we still have time!
