Buying fruits and vegetables appears to be the best nutritional bang for your buck according to a team of French and U.S. researchers. They analyzed 637 foods using a nutrient-to-price ratio, and produce topped their list for providing essential nutrients at a reasonable price.
Among the best-scoring fruits and veggies were oranges, bananas, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, zucchini, celery, and onions. The worst value in nutrients-for-the-money were sweets.
